A partner in the firm, Mr. McGovern possesses extensive experience in advising both corporate and individual clientele in business law and asset protection, through strategic planning, corporate structuring and governance, as well as navigation through many labor and employment issues. Mr. McGovern has extensive experience in labor and employment law in the private and public sectors, including advising clients on federal and state wage, hour and labor laws. Mr. McGovern has over fifteen years of litigation experience in both Federal and State courts representing clients in a wide range of substantive areas including: commercial litigation, shareholder disputes, corporate dissolution, negligence defense, insurance coverage issues, municipal law, and employment law.
Mr. McGovern’s municipal and public sector experience derives from his representation of the County of Westchester as a Senior Assistant County Attorney in the Litigation Bureau. Mr. McGovern represented the County of Westchester, its agents, and employees, in numerous litigation matters before federal courts, state courts, the Public Employer Relations Board (“PERB”), and in arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”).
Prior to the formation of Lyons McGovern LLP, Mr. McGovern served as a Senior Litigation Associate with the law firm of Bingham McCutchen LLP (formerly Bingham Dana LLP), a prominent law firm with offices located in New York City, Boston, Hartford, Washington DC, and Los Angeles. As Senior Litigation Associate with Bingham Dana, LLP, Mr. McGovern represented many large international financial and banking institutions, Fortune 500 companies, and other large domestic and international corporations.
Mr. McGovern is a member of the Federal Bar Council; the New York State Bar Association; and the Westchester County Bar Association. Mr. McGovern is a member and a former Vice President of the Brehon Law Society of Westchester County and is an active member of the Westchester County Association.
Mr. McGovern currently serves as Village Justice for the Village of Tarrytown, New York.
Mr. McGovern resides in Tarrytown with his wife Anita and their four children.
